Rules & Terms

1.

The competition will take place between 8 short films which have already won a national public prize in the following festivals:

The short films shall not exceed the time limit of 59 minutes. Fictions, documentaries, animations and experimental films are eligible.

Each right owners will receive 300€ for the 10 screening, paid by the Brussels Short Film Festival.

4.

The sixth edition of the ESFAA will be launched during de 28th Brussels Short Film Festival, from 24 April to 3 May 2025.

In 2025/2026, each participating festival will screen the program:

  1. Brussels Short Film Festival (Belgium) – 24 April to 3 May 2025
  2. Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival (Portugal) – 12 to 20 July 2025
  3. FeKK – Ljubljana Short Film Festival (Slovenia) – 18 to 23 August 2025
  4. Lviv International Short Film Festival Wiz Art (Ukraine) – 17 to 21 September 2025
  5. Interfilm Berlin – International Short Film Festival (Germany) – 4 to 10 November 2025
  6. ALCINE – Festival de Cine de Alcalá de Henares (Spain) – 6 to 16 November 2025
  7. Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France) – 30 January to 7 February 2026
  8. Tampere Film Festival (Finland) – 4 to 8 March 2026
  9. Go Short International Short Film Festival Nijmegen (Netherlands) – 7 to 12 April 2026

The Brussels Short Film Festival will ask 250 euros to each participating festival to screen the European Short Film Audience program.

In each festival the audience will grade each film of the screening from 1 to 5 (5 being the best grade, and 1 the lowest). The national audience won’t be able to vote for the short film coming from its own country to ensure the fairness of the award.

The votes will be compiled and send to the Brussels Short Film Festival after each participating festival editions. The short film with the best amount of vote will be designated winner of the European Short Film Audience Award.

8.

The results of the sixth European Short Film Audience Award will be announced during the 29th Brussels Short Film Festival – 22 April to 2 May 2026.

9.

The short film awarded for the sixth edition of The European Short Film Audience Award will win a cash prize of received €3500 offered by the ESFAA Network supported by Creative Europe MEDIA.

10.

Each director will be invited at the screening during the 29th edition of the Brussels Short Film Festival.
